# Non core Holden Car Club of WA. Event. Members with Concessionally  Licensed Vehicles may attend, but must make own arrangements

From the President .....

Our Club activities started on 9 January 2010 with a General Meeting which was quickly followed up by a breakfast held on Australia Day on the Shelly foreshore.  Almost 60 members and their families enjoyed this event organised by the Rossmoyne Rotary Club and what a sight it was to see 32 old Holdens, decorated with Australian flags, make their way onto the reserve and form a display to attract members of the public and add an enormous “Australian feel” to the day.

We held our Drive-Inn night on 5 February and 10 cars along with 23 members and their families enjoyed a cruise up the Freeway to Kingsley where chairs and tables were spread out between a couple of cars and we enjoyed a picnic tea and nibbles prior to the show commencing.  The Films we saw were The Fantastic Mr Fox and Avatar.

The months ahead will be very busy with a great variety of events planned for your participation and enjoyment.  If you are a new member or even an older member that has not attended an event as yet but would like to do so then select something from the smorgasbord of events planned and come along and enjoy the camaraderie that exists in the Holden Club.  We were pleasantly surprised to meet a family that had been members for a few years and elected to attend the Australia Day cruise.  We also had a new member and his partner attend the Drive-Inn night.  It is great to see new members come along and enjoy the events planned and organised by the committee.

To the group of members that get involved and regularly attend our events, I say a special thanks to you for your loyal support.

Your committee has spent a huge amount of effort on improving the image of the Holden Car Club by developing a new set of merchandise for you to purchase and wear at club events.  The new shirts are practical, smart and can now be combined with a Polar Fleece Jacket for those cooler events that come along from time to time.  You will also notice that we have improved the flags and flag poles for static events and even improved the logo so that it remains correctly proportioned regardless of the size.

Barry Bettens has built a small light trailer to tow on cruises where the full size Club trailer containing all the gear is not required.  This trailer lets members of the public see that the Holden Car Club is out and about and it has already worked as I received an e-mail enquiry from a young lady who saw the cars travelling along Leach Highway on Australia Day.  Well done Barry!

I have an administrative change to report to you and that is that we received a response from the new organisers of the RSL where we conduct our meetings and they have acknowledged that the Holden Car Club will no longer be required to clean the gutters of the venue.  In addition we have had our meeting dates confirmed up to the end of 2010.

Don’t forget to select an event and come along and enjoy your Club!!

Regards

Jim Fitzgerald
